Julian Hancock -- Webmaster
I am a semi-retired journalist who has come into contact with a number of orphans from various African countries. These people have contacted me in a variety of ways – through Christian websites, referral, or just stumbling upon one of the other websites which I publish. I can say that as a result of these encounters part of my heart now lives in Africa.
Over the past year (2006) I have gradually learnt about the sub-human conditions in which some of these orphans have to live, and the general degradation of the quality of life in all Third World countries.
This is a work of love for me and if just one individual in the whole world is moved by what they have learnt at this website, I will consider my efforts – and those of the various contributors – to have been justly rewarded.

John Whitehead
John W. Whitehead is an attorney and author who has written, debated and practiced widely in the area of constitutional law and human rights. Whitehead’s concern for the persecuted and oppressed led him, in 1982, to establish The Rutherford Institute, a nonprofit civil liberties and human rights organization whose international headquarters are located in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA.
The Rutherford Institute provides free legal services to people whose constitutional and human rights have been threatened or violated. The Rutherford Institute has emerged as one of the nation's leading advocates of civil liberties and human rights, litigating in the courts and educating the public on a wide spectrum of issues affecting individual freedom in the United States and around the world. The Institute’s mission is twofold: to provide legal services in the defense of religious and civil liberties and to educate the public on important issues affecting their constitutional freedoms.
Whitehead serves as the Institute’s president and spokesperson. In addition to writing a weekly commentary that is posted on The Rutherford Institute’s website, as well as being distributed to several hundred newspapers, John hosts a national public service radio campaign. Whitehead's aggressive, pioneering approach to civil liberties issues has earned him numerous accolades, including the Hungarian Medal of Freedom. Information about The Rutherford Institute is available HERE
Statement by JOHN WHITEHEAD, President and Founder of the RUTHERFORD INSTITUTE:
The acclaimed French writer Albert Camus once said: “Perhaps we cannot prevent this from being a world in which children suffer. But we can reduce the number of suffering children. And if you will not help us, who will?” I could not agree more. That is why the work of Third World Orphans is so vital. We all need to help—now. Tomorrow may be too late.
